I’m not going to give too much of an introduction on the importance of finding a niche market because I know if you are reading this, you are fervent to either begin your journey into internet marketing, or you are looking for a better, more profitable niche market to focus your internet business in.

So, let’s get right to it.

Step 1: Topic Search

List down 10-20 topics or markets you feel you might want to get into. Examples of some markets are: internet marketing, weight loss, business, women, sex, dating, entertainment, pets etc.

From that list, circle 4 or 5 markets or topics that interest you.

Step 2: Forum search

Go to a search engine and search for forums that speak about these niches. Browse around and find out what challenges the members are facing and what kind of solutions are given to those challenges. Chances are, you will come across two or three main challenges, and these are the solutions you want to offer them.

Do the search in three or four more forums and you will have a good idea on how to be in service to the specific niche market.

Step 3: Crete an Angle

Think of an angle, or a different concept in approaching each niche market.

If you are just starting out in internet marketing, I would suggest you take more than just a couple of hours doing this, because coming up with creative angle to serve your niche market is a key step when it comes to internet marketing. Check out some websites that offer similar solutions and see how differently they approach the same topic.

This step can make the difference between becoming just a regular successful internet marketer who makes 10k a month and a Super Internet Guru who makes 50k a week.

Many of my friends and colleagues, who are now considered Gurus in their respective internet marketing niches, have told me stories of many months they wasted in an unprofitable niche in the beginning of their internet marketing career.

Here are some tips to confirm whether or not you have chosen a profitable topic.

Step 4: Yahoo Answers

Go to yahoo Answers and find out the same things about your topic similar to the Forum Search. This time, see if they talk about any other challenges? Or do they offer different solutions to certain challenges?

Step 5: Do They Really Need Help?

Then ask yourself if these people are desperate to find a solution to their problems? Do they want the solution urgently, or are they merely making conversation online for fun? You want to pick a niche that is desperately and urgently in need of a solution.

Step 6: Do They Buy?

Next, you need to see if these people have the money and do actually buy things online. The mistake many new online marketers do is they get into a real interesting niche but the people there actually go online to just find solutions and then purchase the products in actual stores. An example would be focusing on a regional niche or country where online purchases are not the norm.

Step 7: Are there many of them?

Next you want to go to Google and do some keyword searches to see if there are enough buyers. The more people interested the more chances you have to get a piece of the action.
